A national waste management company is branching out to offer public and private clients everything from carpet cleaning to graffiti removal and festival event support.

Biffa, known for its recycling, refuse and street cleansing on behalf of Cornwall Council, has launched a new arm of the Newham-based firm and is already building a strong customer base.

The team offers a cleansing and waste removal service tailored to domestic and commercial premises.

"We found that people were struggling to find a cost effective solution to their additional cleansing needs so we sat down as a team and devised a list of services to support our customers," said Craig Mouatt, Business Manager at the Lighterage Hill site.

"And now we have grown to offer our services across Cornwall and into Devon, thanks to word of mouth and by building a strong relationship with our customers."

He added that the team had supported events including the Little Orchard Cider and Music Festival and the Great Estate Festival, alongside offering services to public and private customers including pressure washing, garden clearance and minor property maintenance and repair.

"We hold great pride in delivering first class customer service that concentrates on effective communication, confidentiality and timely delivery of professional services," said Craig. "Our aim is to offer innovative, cost effective solutions for all our customers."

Craig also said that away from Newham, the team is part of the nationwide Biffa organisation supporting WasteAid, helping communities in developing countries to improve the management of their waste. The charity’s innovative projects include teaching communities how to turn water bottles into eco bricks to build homes and schools, as well converting plastic bags into paving slabs which can be sold to local businesses.

Biffa has already supplied vital Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including Safety boots, High visibility clothing, Face Masks and Litter Pickers to an existing WasteAid project in Gunjur, The Gambia, West Africa.

And locally, Biffa are proud partners of the voluntary organisation, Clean Cornwall, a partnership which is dedicated to reducing the visible presence and impact of litter, protecting our hugely diverse landscape and promoting the importance of keeping our county litter free and tidy.
